Four little flower girls beat the heat by hanging out in the LA Public Library children’s section. I’d forgotten how unbearably hot and smoggy it gets here in the summer…and to be a guy and have to wear a suit in this! Ew. We ran for cover before the ceremony started and cooled off among the quiet shelves – and AC (thank goodness).
The atrium upstairs outside the children’s section is just awe-inspiring. It reminds me of my college days when I used sit in those huge armchairs at Union Station terminal staring up at the detailed Art Deco/Spanish Revival ceilings while waiting for my train. It’s just one of those places where you can feel the history wrap around you. With all the LA traffic and new construction, it’s so easy to forget about these gems that give this city character.
